The History of the Tarot Deck

The history of the tarot dates back to the 13th century. This was when the tarot was created by French artist Jean de Ghelderode. He designed his own set of playing cards which he called “tarots”. His design included 78 cards divided into 4 suits: Cups, Swords, Coins, and Wands. Each suit contained 24 cards.
Ghelderode’s tarot cards were very similar to the ones we know today. However, there were some differences between the two sets. For example, the trump cards weren’t named until much later. Also, the court cards didn’t have their names written on them.

In the early 1500s, the tarot spread throughout Italy and France. It wasn’t long before people started using it in games like tarocchino. Then, around the mid-1600s, the tarot was brought over to England where it gained popularity among the upper class.

In 1884, Rider-Waite published his famous book, The Pictorial Key To The Tarot. This book introduced many new ideas about the tarot including the idea that each card represented a specific personality trait.

Some of the most common types include Celtic Cross, Classic Tarot, Egyptian Tarot, Japanese Tarot, Marseilles Tarot, Modern Tarot, Playing Card Tarot, Rider Waite Tarot, Thoth Tarot, and Visconti-Sforza Tarot.

How to Read Tarot Cards
There are many ways to interpret the meaning of tarot cards. You can use your intuition to figure out what they mean to you. Or, if you prefer, you can ask someone else who knows about tarot to help you understand them better.

If you choose to do this, here are some things you should keep in mind. First, make sure you’re not asking someone who doesn’t know anything about tarot. Second, be careful with your questions. Don’t ask too many at once. And finally, don’t expect an answer right away. People usually take a while to think about something before answering.

If you decide to go through the process of reading tarot cards alone, then you will need to get a few tools first. These include a deck of cards, a pen or pencil, a notebook and a timer. You can buy a pack of tarot cards from any store that sells magic supplies. They come in various sizes so you can pick whichever size you feel comfortable with.
