How would you describe a vintage collage creator? Is it something you’d want to try out?
Vintage collages are a great way to bring back memories from your childhood or even your college days. They are also a fun way to decorate your home or office space.
You don’t need to go to a store to get these prints. All you need is Photoshop and some creativity. The tutorial below shows you how to create a vintage collage using only free software.
Step 1: Create Your Background Image
The first step is to make sure that you have the right background image. For this example, I’m going to use an old photo of my family.
Then choose Photo as the type of file. Click Next and then browse for the picture you want to use. Make sure that you select the correct size (in pixels) before clicking Open. Next, click on the Crop tool in the toolbar. This will allow you to crop the image so that there’s no unwanted area around the edges. You can see what I mean by cropping the image here. Click OK when done.

Now we’re ready the resolution is set at 300 dpi (dots per inch). You can change the size by clicking on the Size box in the bottom left corner.
Now click OK.
Step 2: Add Text
Next, we’ll add text to our collage. In the font window, select Times New Roman. Change the color to white. Set the font style to 2: Add Textures
Now we’re ready to add textures to our collage. This will open up a new window where you can adjust the settings. I like to keep everything at default except for the Amount slider. Change it to about 50% to start with. Once you’ve got the noise texture applied, click OK.

Step 3: Apply Effects And Adjustments
We’re almost finished! Now let’s apply some effects. First, we’ll add a vignette effect. Increase the Radius until you get a nice blur.
Next, we’ll apply a drop shadow. Choose a light blue color and increase the Opacity until you get the look you want. Finally, we’ll add a gradient overlay. Start with a dark gray color and move it over the top of the image. Then, change the opacity to about 70%.
